Update #2 for this week.

I apologize for the additional update.  Mondays are crazy.

Camp news:  A representative from Calvin Crest will be at OLM on Friday 8/31 at 1:40PM.  The meeting will be held in the auditorium. We will see a short video and discuss things that your child should and should not bring to camp.  All are welcom to attend, and time will be given to answer questions.  The meeting will end at 2:30PM There is another meeting scheduled for cabin leaders on Sept. 20th at 6:00PM in Mrs. Wennberg's room (room 11).

Help needed:  Each year I subscribe to TIME for Kids.  It is a weekly current events publication for kids.  I use these in the classroom for reading comprehension.  It is a great way to teach them about the world around them, while also building reading skills.  The cost is $4.50 per child for the year.  If anyone is interested in donating or helping out (by sending the amount for your child) that would be greatly appreciated.  All students will be receiving the publication regardless of the amount collected.  Each class is given some money from the Halloween carnival earnings.  I use this money throughout the year for projects.  The remaining cost that is not donated for Time for Kids will be deducted from the usual carnival money for our class.  I am just trying to make our carnival money stretch a little farther by offsetting this cost.  I understand if you are not able to help with this at this time.  Thank you so much for your help and support!
Updates for the week of August 27

6th grade parents:

Our first weekly progress reports were sent home today, August 27.  Please sign and return them to school tomorrow.  Students will receive a red card for each day the progress report is not returned.  It seems that we are off to a great start.  Please don't panic if you see a grade that is lower than expected.  There is still plenty of time to raise it.  This should serve as a guide for you and your child to know what they should work on to achieve the grades they would like for the report card.  Also, keep in mind that we have only had 2 weeks of school, and the students have only had tests in spelling/vocab.  More tests will be coming (a science test today 8/27), and may affect their grades.  I hope you find these progress reports to be a good tool to help your child to be successful.  Thank you for your support.

Friday, August 31 will be a free dress day for $1.00 for the SPCA.  A note was sent home today.
