Upcoming Spring Program:
Our class will be performing a dance to the song "Happy" in the spring program on April 9.  I would like all students to wear bright yellow t-shirts and jeans.  The shirts can be purchased for a low price at Michaels or Hobby Lobby.  You can even find 40% off coupons online.  We will be drawing happy faces on the shirts.  If you have not already done so, please have your child bring his/her shirt to school by Monday, April 7.  Thank you so much for your help.

8th Grade English
The upcoming weeks will be very busy with our 8th grade report.  Students will be graded in English, Social Studies, and Science on this report.  Along with this assignment April and May become very busy for 8th graders with many end of the year activities. I have gone over this with them in class and had them write down several due dates in their planners.  It will also be essential that they have paper and ink in their printers in order to print out assignments.  We have discussed the importance of planning ahead and not wasting time.  Parents, thank you for your help in keeping them organized and keeping everyone less stressed.

Important dates:

1.  Choose a topic by April 2.  It must be an invention between 1850 and 1950.  Topics must be approved by Mrs. Keeler.

2.  Gather your sources by April 8. Students will go to the school library on April 1 to assist with this.  Five sources are needed, and one must be a book.  Please bring all sources (printed out) to English class on April 8.  This is worth 50 points.  They may not use Wikipedia as a source.  Wikipedia is also not used in high school.

3.  Outlining in class April 8 and April 9.  Have your sources with you. Typed outlines are due April 11.

4.  Bring notecards to class beginning April 15.  We will work in class during this week.  Notecards will be due on April 28 following spring break.

5.  Reports are due May 12.  They may be turned in early on May 9 for 25 extra credit points in English.

8th graders:  It would be helpful to print out the above dates and make sure to have them all written down in your planner.  Planning ahead will save you stress and worry later.
