Attention 6th grade parents:  Each 6th grader needs to bring in 1 paper bag.  We have new vocab. books and they need to be covered.  Paper bags actually make great covers!  Please send these in ASAP.  Also, if a parent would like to earn hours (and is safe environment trained) please contact Mrs. Lorenzi to arrange a time to come in and help cover the vocab. books.  Thank you!

Homework help:   Please be prompt in picking up your child, as the teachers sometimes have appointments scheduled following homework help.  Students who are not picked up on time will be sent to extended care, and a fee will be assessed.  Sixth grade homework help will be in Mrs. Wennberg's room on Mondays and Wednesdays and in Mrs. Lorenzi's room on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  Sometimes appointments may arise where we will need to trade days.

Welcome to 6th grade!

August 22-26

6th grade continues to be off to a great start!  I apologize for my absence last Thursday.  I had a medical emergency with my dad.  He has been very ill the past few months. He has Parkinson's Disease which brings many complications.  Please keep him in your prayers!  Please also pray for my mom, as she is his primary caregiver.  I feel so blessed to have such a great school family, of whom I can ask for prayers in times of need.

Thank you to all who served at  the Catholic Charities Dinner.  It is so wonderful to have our students giving of themselves to serve others and truly living their faith!

Reminder:  If you have not yet sent in $5 for your child's Time for Kids subscription (6th grade only), and are able to do so, please send it in as soon as possible so that these can be ordered. It is a great addition to our reading program and a great way for our students to learn about current events while improving their reading skills.

Two adorable kittens looking for a home.....They would love to go to the same home if possible.  Also, their mother is available as well.  Currently they are at my parents' home.  One of their cats had this adorable cat family.  They are darling, but it is simply too much for my parents to keep them at this time.  They are very cute and playful and looking for a "furever" home.  Just think, you could have them in time to get them blessed at the Blessing of the animals.  We currently refer to them as "Aly" and "Simone," like the American Olympic gymnasts. They enjoy walking on the bricks lining the flower beds.....they seem to be quite good at balance beam!  But of course, you could name them whatever you choose.  They are already eating cat food and are ready to cuddle up with you.  Please let Mrs. Lorenzi know if you are interested.

The Back to School dance will be held this Friday, August 12, 2:30-5:00 PM in the auditorium for all 6th, 7th, and 8th graders.  Plan on attending...it should be fun!  The student council officers will be announcing details.

Volunteer needed:  I would like to have a parent volunteer to make cupcakes or some other special treat to celebrate the Blessed Mother's birthday.  Her birthday is on September 8.  We will also be saying a Rosary in our classroom (I am sure the Blessed Mother prefers prayers to cupcakes.)  I would like the cupcakes for the students to celebrate with a special snack at recess.  Please let me know if you would like to provide this.  You can earn volunteer hours for your time.  What a fun and easy way to earn hours!

We recently had the arrival of 4 new kittens, so I will be looking for homes for them.  Two of them are already spoken for.  Please let me know if you would like to provide a "furever home" for one of these cute and cuddly friends.  They are still too young to leave their mom, but they should be ready to go in 5-6 more weeks...just in time to have them before the blessing of the animals Mass.  I will post photos soon!
